Fee warning
Norton can charge an annual renewal up to 35 days before your current term ends, at the renewal price, which may be higher than what you paid at first. Turn off renewal before the billing date in Norton's renewal reminder email.
First, find out who bills you
The device Norton protects doesn't decide how you cancel. The company that charges you does.
Fastest check: Find the receipt email for your purchase. A receipt from Norton means Norton bills you, and the plan appears under My Subscriptions at my.norton.com. A receipt from Apple, Google Play or Microsoft means that store bills you.
| What you see | Who bills you | Go to |
|---|---|---|
| A Norton charge on your card statement, such as Norton Annual Renewal | Norton | Cancel on the Norton website |
| A Norton 360 card or download you bought at a store or from an online retailer | Norton, after the prepaid term | Cancel on the Norton website |
| A charge from APPLE.COM/BILL, with an Apple receipt for Norton | Apple | Billed by Apple |
| A Norton charge on a Google Play receipt | Google Play | Billed by Google Play |
| A Norton charge on a Microsoft Store receipt | Microsoft | Billed by Microsoft Store |
| Norton listed on your internet or phone company bill | Your internet or phone company | Billed by your internet or phone company |
Cancel on the Norton website
This works in any browser, on a computer or on your phone, for plans Norton bills directly.
- Open your Norton subscriptions and sign in.
- On the My Subscriptions tab, find Norton 360.
- Select Cancel Subscription Renewal or Manage Renewal next to it.
- Next to Plan Renewal, select Unsubscribe.
- Choose a reason and select Next.
- Select No thanks, cancel my subscription, then select Next.
Done when: A confirmation message appears, and Norton emails you a confirmation within 24 to 48 hours.
- The change can take up to 24 hours to show in your account.
- Norton's policy page names the buttons Cancel Renewal or Manage Subscriptions. Select whichever your account shows.
- Cancelling the renewal of Norton 360 also cancels the renewal of add-ons linked to it. Cancelling only an add-on leaves Norton 360 renewing.
- Turning off renewal doesn't refund a charge you already paid. Ask Norton for a refund separately.
- Norton 360 with LifeLock plans cancel here too.
Billed by Apple
If you bought or started a trial in the Norton 360 app on an iPhone or iPad, Apple bills you, and only Apple can cancel it.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open your Apple subscriptions.
- Tap the Norton subscription.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
Done when: The Norton subscription in your Apple subscriptions shows an end date instead of a renewal date.
- The same link works on a Mac, where it opens your subscriptions in the App Store.
- No Cancel Subscription button means it's already cancelled.
- Deleting the Norton app doesn't cancel the subscription.
- On a trial, cancel before it ends to avoid the annual charge.
Billed by Google Play
If you bought or started a trial in the Norton 360 app on Android, Google Play bills you.
- Open the Play Store and tap your profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap the Norton subscription.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
Done when: Google Play shows the date the subscription ends.
- On a computer, open play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions and sign in with the Google account that paid.
- Uninstalling the Norton app doesn't cancel the subscription.
- On a trial, cancel before it ends to avoid the annual charge.
Billed by Microsoft Store
Norton says a plan bought through the Microsoft Store can be cancelled only there.
- Open account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account that paid.
- Find the Norton subscription and select Manage.
- Follow the steps on the page to cancel it.
Done when: Your Microsoft account no longer shows a renewal for the Norton subscription.
- Microsoft says you keep access until the end of the current billing period.
Billed by your internet or phone company
If Norton comes on your internet or phone bill, contact that company. Norton says different cancellation and refund terms may apply when a partner bills you.
- Contact the company that bills you for Norton, using the number or account page on your bill.
- Ask them to remove Norton 360 from your account.
- Write down the date, the agent's name and any confirmation number.
Done when: Your next bill from that company no longer lists Norton.
- Norton can't refund a subscription a partner bills. Ask that company about refunds.

Cancel by phone or chat
Norton also turns off renewal and handles refund requests through its support team.
- Call Norton at 1-844-488-4540, or open Norton's contact page, enter the email address on your Norton account and select Verify to reach Norton's chat.
- Have your order number, product key or serial number ready.
- Say: "I want to cancel my Norton 360 subscription and turn off automatic renewal. Please give me a confirmation number."
- Write down the date, the agent's name and the confirmation number.
Done when: Norton emails you a cancellation confirmation, which can take 24 to 48 hours.
- If a charge is still inside the refund window, ask for the refund on the same call or chat.
- On a Norton 360 with LifeLock plan, you can also call LifeLock at 1-800-543-3562 (1-800-LifeLock).
Free trial
Norton offers 7-day free trials on most Norton 360 plans. You need a payment method to start one, and Norton charges it when the trial ends unless you cancel first. Trial length can vary by offer, so check the date shown when you signed up.
Started the trial on the Norton website? Turn off renewal in your Norton account or by calling Norton before the trial ends. Started it in the Norton 360 app? Cancel in your Apple subscriptions or in Google Play before the trial ends.
If Norton billed you and the first charge has already gone through, you can ask Norton for a refund within 60 days of that charge on an annual plan, or within 14 days on a monthly plan. If Apple or Google Play billed you, their refund rules apply.
What Norton shows you before you leave
After you choose a reason, Norton may show options or offers to keep your subscription. To keep cancelling, select No thanks, cancel my subscription, then Next.
- An option or offer to keep your subscription: Select No thanks, cancel my subscription, then select Next.
What happens after you cancel
- Access: Protection continues until the end of the term you've already paid for. After that the subscription ends and Norton doesn't charge you again. You may lose extras that need an automatically renewing plan, such as the Virus Protection Promise.
- Refunds: If Norton refunds you, the subscription ends, the software may stop working, and Norton asks you to uninstall it from your devices.
- Your data: Norton says it deletes stored content, such as Cloud Backup files, under its own policies after you delete or uninstall the software. Back up anything you want to keep before your plan ends. Norton's Products Privacy Notice explains how long it keeps each product's data.
- Rejoining: Before your term ends, select Activate Subscription Renewal next to the plan in My Subscriptions. After it expires, select Subscribe Now there, or open the Norton app and select Renew or Renew Now.
How to check it worked
- Look for Norton's confirmation email. It can take 24 to 48 hours.
- After 24 hours, open My Subscriptions at my.norton.com and check the renewal status of Norton 360 and any add-ons.
- If Apple, Google Play or Microsoft bills you, check that the store shows an end date for Norton.
- Watch your card statement from about 35 days before your term ends for a Norton Annual Renewal charge.
Getting a refund
- Annual plan billed by Norton: Under Norton's 60-day Money Back Guarantee, the purchase and each annual renewal charge are eligible for a full refund if you ask within 60 days of that charge. This includes the first charge after a free trial.
- Monthly plan billed by Norton: Full refund if you ask within 14 days of the first purchase, or of the first charge after a trial. Later monthly charges aren't refunded.
- Exceptions: Norton doesn't refund some purchases, such as a repeat purchase it already refunded or some plans sold with a computer. Norton's Cancellation and Refund Policy lists every exception.
- How to ask: Contact Norton by phone at 1-844-488-4540 or through Norton's contact page, with your order number, product key or serial number. Bought it at a store? Norton also asks for a copy of the subscription key label and of the original receipt showing the date and price. Norton verifies your account, and says requests usually take a few days and the money goes back to the payment method you used.
- Billed by Apple: Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides, not Norton 360.
- Billed by Google Play: Within 48 hours of a purchase, you may be able to request a refund on Google Play. After that, Google says to contact the developer, Norton 360.
- Billed by Microsoft Store: Microsoft's rules apply. Microsoft says cancelling doesn't refund the current billing period.
- Billed by your internet or phone company: Norton can't refund these. Ask the company that bills you.
If you were billed through the App Store, Apple decides eligibility case by case. Refund rules differ by country and by provider.
Questions people ask
Does uninstalling Norton cancel my subscription?
No. Norton keeps renewing until you turn off renewal in your Norton account, or cancel in the store that bills you.
Why was I charged before my subscription ended?
Norton can bill an annual renewal up to 35 days before the term ends. If you didn't want it, turn off renewal and ask for a refund within 60 days of the charge.
Can I get my money back?
For plans Norton bills directly: annual charges within 60 days, and the first monthly charge within 14 days. Rules differ outside the US, for example in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Quebec.
I bought Norton 360 at a store or from an online retailer. Will it renew?
Yes. Activating it requires a saved payment method, and Norton charges it after the prepaid term ends. Turn off renewal in My Subscriptions before the billing date.
Does cancelling Norton 360 also cancel my add-ons?
Yes, for add-ons linked to it. Cancelling only an add-on leaves Norton 360 renewing, and your future charges are adjusted.
How do I cancel Norton 360 with LifeLock?
The same way, in My Subscriptions at my.norton.com. You can also call LifeLock at 1-800-543-3562 or send a cancellation request through the LifeLock member portal. You can cancel one part of a bundle and keep the rest, but the renewal price changes.
