Fee warning
Check your plan type before you cancel. On an annual plan paid monthly, cancelling after the first 14 days costs a lump sum of 50% of the payments left on your contract. In California it's 30% of your annual commitment. On an annual plan paid up front, nothing is refunded after 14 days. The plan card in your Adobe account shows which plan you have.
First, find out who bills you
The device you use doesn't decide how you cancel. The company that charges you does.
Fastest check: Sign in at account.adobe.com/plans. If an app store bills you, the Plans page shows Go to App Store or Go to Google Store. Not sure which account a card charge belongs to? Adobe's Charge Finder matches it without signing in.
| What you see | Who bills you | Go to |
|---|---|---|
| A charge from ADOBE on your card statement, or an Adobe payment in PayPal | Adobe | Cancel on the Adobe website |
| You started your plan with a code or gift card from a store or online retailer | Adobe | Cancel by phone or chat |
| A charge from APPLE.COM/BILL for an Adobe app, such as Lightroom | Apple | Billed by Apple |
| An Adobe app on a Google Play receipt | Google Play | Billed by Google Play |
| Lightroom for Samsung in your Galaxy Store receipts | Samsung | Billed by Samsung Galaxy Store |
| An Adobe subscription on a Microsoft Store receipt | Microsoft | Billed by Microsoft |
| An Adobe plan bought on Amazon.com, listed in Your Memberships & Subscriptions | Amazon | Billed by Amazon |
| Your license comes from an employer, school or team | Your admin or their reseller | Teams, work and school plans |
Cancel on the Adobe website
For plans bought from Adobe. This works in any browser, on a computer or on your phone.
- Sign in at account.adobe.com/plans.
- Under Plans and payment, select Manage plan for the plan you want to cancel.
- Select Cancel your plan.
- Check your plan details, then select Continue to cancel.
- Select your reason for cancelling, then select Continue.
- Review the cancellation details, then select Confirm cancellation.
Done when: Adobe emails you a cancellation confirmation, and your Adobe account shows the plan as cancelled.
- Each plan is cancelled on its own. If you also pay for Acrobat or Adobe Stock, cancel those plans too.
- Cancelling is blocked while a payment is processing or has a problem. Try again after 24 hours.
Billed by Apple
Plans bought inside an Adobe app on iPhone or iPad, such as Lightroom, are billed by Apple. Your Adobe Plans page shows Go to App Store for these.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open your Apple subscriptions.
- Tap the Adobe app you subscribed in, such as Adobe Lightroom.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
Done when: The Adobe app in your Apple subscriptions shows an end date instead of a renewal date.
- The same link works on a Mac, where it opens your subscriptions in the App Store.
- No Cancel Subscription button means it's already cancelled.
- Cancelling a free trial? Apple says to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
- Not in the list? Check that you're signed in with the Apple Account that paid, or look for the plan at account.adobe.com/plans.
Billed by Google Play
Plans bought inside an Adobe app on Android are billed by Google Play. Your Adobe Plans page shows Go to Google Store for these.
- Open the Play Store and tap your profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap the Adobe app you subscribed in, such as Adobe Lightroom.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
Done when: Google Play shows the date the subscription ends.
- On a computer, open play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions and sign in with the Google account that paid.
- Uninstalling the app doesn't cancel the subscription.
Billed by Samsung Galaxy Store
Lightroom for Samsung, bought in the Galaxy Store, is billed through Samsung Checkout. You cancel it in the Galaxy Store.
- Open the Galaxy Store app on your Samsung device.
- Tap Menu, then My Page, Receipts and Items.
- Tap Lightroom for Samsung, then tap Unsubscribe.
- Follow the on-screen instructions, then tap Unsubscribe to confirm.
Done when: You've tapped Unsubscribe to confirm the cancellation in the Galaxy Store.
- No Samsung device? Contact Samsung customer support to cancel.
Billed by Microsoft
Adobe says a plan bought through Microsoft, such as Lightroom from the Microsoft Store, is managed by Microsoft.
- Go to account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account that paid.
- Find the Adobe subscription and select Manage.
- Select Cancel, then follow the instructions on the page.
Done when: The subscription shows Turn on recurring billing and the date it expires.
- If you already see Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage, the subscription is set to end and there's nothing more to do.
Billed by Amazon
Adobe plans sold by Amazon.com, such as Creative Cloud Pro with auto-renewal, are billed by Amazon. These are for US customers only.
- Go to amazon.com/yourmembershipsandsubscriptions and sign in with the Amazon account that paid.
- Select Cancel Subscription next to the Adobe plan.
- To keep access until the renewal date, select End on under Cancel on renewal date. To end it now, select End Now.
Done when: You've selected End on or End Now for the Adobe plan in Your Memberships & Subscriptions.
- Amazon doesn't refund the unused part of a billing period. With End Now, you may lose access right away.
Cancel by phone or chat
Adobe's terms let you cancel by contacting Customer Support. This helps if the website won't let you finish.
- Call 1-800-833-6687, open around the clock from Sunday 6 pm to Friday 7 pm Pacific Time, or start a chat at helpx.adobe.com/contact.html.
- Say: "I want to cancel my Creative Cloud plan. Please tell me any fee and send me a confirmation."
- Write down the date, the agent's name and any case or confirmation number.
Done when: Adobe emails you a cancellation confirmation, and your Adobe account shows the plan as cancelled.
- Creative Cloud for teams has its own US number: 1-800-443-8158, same hours.
- Started your plan with a code or gift card from a store or online retailer? If it's now an annual plan paid monthly, Adobe's US terms say you cancel by contacting Customer Support. In California, you can also cancel in your Adobe account. After the first 14 days, the same fee applies: 50% of the payments left on your contract, or 30% of your annual commitment in California.

Teams, work and school plans
If your license comes from an employer, school or team, an admin manages it. Ask them to remove your license. In the Admin Console, only system admins and contract owners can cancel a team plan.
Admins who bought from Adobe cancel in the Admin Console: select Account, scroll to Plans and licenses, select Manage for the plan, then Cancel Licenses. If there's no cancel option yet, open the Support tab and select Start chat. A plan bought through a reseller is cancelled with that reseller.
Team plans paid monthly on an annual contract carry the same 50% fee after 14 days. Each cancelled license drops to 5GB of cloud storage, and members over that have 30 days to move their files.
Free trial
The Creative Cloud trial lasts 7 days and starts when you sign up. If you gave payment details, it turns into a paid plan when it ends, at the price shown when you signed up.
Cancel before the trial ends and you aren't charged. Use the same steps as for a paid plan, at account.adobe.com/plans.
Started the trial in an Adobe app on your phone? Cancel it where it's billed: your Apple subscriptions, Google Play or the Galaxy Store. The steps are under Billed by Apple, Billed by Google Play and Billed by Samsung Galaxy Store. For a trial billed by Apple, Apple says to cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
Check which plan your trial turns into. If it's an annual plan, the annual cancellation terms apply once it converts.
What Adobe shows you before you leave
Adobe's published steps ask for a reason, then show the cancellation details. Adobe's help pages don't list any offers. If the page offers you something, such as a different plan, check its price and commitment before you accept.
Switching plans isn't cancelling. A new plan starts right away and is charged right away, and an annual plan's year restarts on the day you switch.
What happens after you cancel
- Access: Paid apps and services keep working until your current billing period ends, or until a prepaid annual term ends. Your Adobe account stays open as a free membership.
- Your data: Cloud storage drops to 5GB. If you're over, you have 30 days to reduce it before you may lose access to files on Adobe's servers. Files saved on your computer stay there. Even under 5GB, Adobe may permanently delete files in free cloud storage after a period of inactivity. It emails you first, so keep a copy on your computer. Lightroom originals stay in the cloud for a year, and unused generative credits expire when you cancel.
- Rejoining: Before the billing period ends, you can reactivate the plan from your Adobe account. After that, buy a new plan at adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html.
- Closing your account: Cancelling doesn't delete your Adobe account. Deleting it is a separate step that removes your cloud files and purchase history. Adobe lets you reactivate a deleted account within 27 days.
How to check it worked
- Look for the cancellation confirmation email from Adobe. No email may mean the plan is still active.
- Open account.adobe.com/plans and check every plan. Cancelling one plan doesn't cancel the others.
- If an ADOBE charge shows up after you cancel, it's usually the last payment for the current period. The Charge Finder shows which account and plan it's for.
Getting a refund
- Billed by Adobe: Cancel within 14 days of your first order for a full refund. After that, monthly payments and prepaid annual fees aren't refunded, and you keep access until the period ends. A refund can take 10 to 14 business days to reach your payment method.
- Billed by Apple: Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides, not Adobe.
- Billed by Google Play: Within 48 hours of a purchase, you may be able to request a refund on Google Play. After that, Google says to contact the developer, Adobe. For Lightroom, Adobe says you can also contact Adobe Support about a refund 48 hours after you cancel.
- Billed by Samsung: Within 48 hours of purchase, Samsung's FAQ explains its refund rules. After 48 hours, contact Adobe Support to request a refund.
- Billed by Microsoft: Refunds for Microsoft Store purchases go through Microsoft.
- Billed by Amazon: Some Adobe plans on Amazon give a full refund if you cancel within a grace period, shown on the product page. Amazon doesn't refund the unused part of a billing period.
If you were billed through the App Store, Apple decides eligibility case by case. Refund rules differ by country and by provider.
Questions people ask
How is the cancellation fee worked out?
On an annual plan paid monthly, cancelling after 14 days costs a lump sum of 50% of the payments left. Adobe's example: cancel in month nine and you pay half of the three remaining months. In California the fee is 30% of the annual commitment.
Is there a fee after the first year?
Adobe's current US terms say an annual plan paid monthly renews month to month after the first year. Read the cancellation details for your plan before you select Confirm cancellation.
Can I just turn off auto-renew?
No. Adobe says you can't stop a plan from renewing; you have to cancel it. The exception is an individual annual prepaid plan bought in Vermont, where you can change auto-renewal in your Adobe account.
Will I lose my files?
Not the ones on your computer. Cloud storage drops to 5GB, and if you're over, you have 30 days to move files before you may lose access to some of them. Even under 5GB, Adobe may permanently delete files in free cloud storage after a period of inactivity. It emails you first.
Why was I charged after I cancelled?
It's usually the final charge for the current billing period. It can also be another plan that's still active, or a cancellation that didn't go through. Check account.adobe.com/plans.
I paid an early termination fee in the past. Is there anything for me?
After its settlement with the US Department of Justice, Adobe emailed eligible US customers an offer of two free months. You qualify if you had a Creative Cloud app subscription at any time between January 2019 and July 2025 and paid an early termination fee that, with your monthly payments, cost more than a month-to-month plan would have for the same period. If you still subscribe, the months were added to each plan automatically and billing resumes after them. On an annual plan paid up front, they're credited at your next renewal. Former customers can redeem the offer until December 31, 2027, using the link in that email. No email? Check your spam folder, or contact Adobe Support if you can't get into that email address.
