Fee warning

Return rented equipment within 10 days of your disconnect date. Otherwise Xfinity charges an unreturned equipment fee, and charges can continue until everything is back. If you signed a minimum term agreement, ending it early can cost an early termination fee. Xfinity Home equipment on an installment plan must be paid off when you disconnect. Cancel a phone line before its number is transferred and you lose the number. Cancelling an Xfinity Mobile line ends the monthly device credits on its phone, and cancelling every Xfinity service can make the remaining device balance due at once.

First, find out who bills you

Xfinity bills in four ways: a monthly bill for home services, an Xfinity Mobile bill, prepaid NOW services and Xfinity Prepaid Internet. Check which ones you have.

Fastest check: Sign in at customer.xfinity.com or in the Xfinity app and look at your bill and plan details. Prepaid NOW services show in the NOW Portal instead, and Xfinity Prepaid Internet at xfinityprepaid.com.

Cancel by phone or scheduled call

Recommended

For Internet, TV, Voice, Xfinity Home and Xfinity Mobile, Xfinity takes cancellations by phone, by a call you schedule, or in a store.

  1. Keeping your Xfinity Voice or Mobile number? Ask your new provider to transfer it first, and don't cancel that line until the transfer is done.
  2. Call 1-800-934-6489. Or open xfinity.com/cancel, select Schedule a call and sign in, and Xfinity calls you.
  3. Say: "I want to cancel my Xfinity service. Please give me a confirmation number." Name each service to cancel: Internet, TV, Voice, Home or Mobile.
  4. Ask for your disconnect date, what your final bill will include and how to return your equipment.
  5. Write down the date, the agent's name and the confirmation number.

Done when: The agent gives you a confirmation number and the date your service disconnects.

  • Xfinity Mobile: when your new carrier transfers your number, Xfinity treats it as a request to cancel that line. Phone payments you still owe stay due under your device payment agreement. If your phone came with monthly device credits, they stop when its line is cancelled, and you pay the remaining installments without them. If you cancel your last Mobile line and keep none of Xfinity TV, Internet or Voice, the agreement lets Xfinity require the whole remaining device balance at once.
  • If you keep Xfinity Mobile after cancelling Internet, your Mobile bill can go up. See what happens to Xfinity Mobile.
  • Moving? If Xfinity serves your new address, you can transfer service at xfinity.com/moving instead of cancelling.
  • If the account holder has died, use the bereavement page to cancel or transfer the account.

Cancel at an Xfinity Store

A store visit lets you cancel and hand back your equipment in one trip.

  1. Find a store and check its hours at xfinity.com/stores. You can book an appointment or walk in.
  2. Bring your rented equipment: each device with its remote and power cord.
  3. Ask to cancel and name each service. Hand the equipment to a store employee.
  4. Ask for a confirmation number and your disconnect date, and keep the equipment receipt.

Done when: You leave with a confirmation number, a disconnect date and a receipt for the equipment you returned.

  • Equipment you return at a store comes off your account right away.
  • Keeping a phone number? Have your new provider transfer it before you go.

Cancel NOW Internet, NOW TV or NOW Mobile online

Prepaid NOW services cancel in the NOW Portal. Cancelling NOW Internet or NOW Mobile ends service right away, so Xfinity recommends turning off autopay instead. NOW TV keeps working until the end of the bill cycle.

  1. Sign in to the NOW Portal.
  2. Open the Plan page for the service you want to cancel and select Pause or cancel service at the bottom.
  3. Select Cancel, then Continue.
  4. Choose a reason and select Cancel service.
  5. Select Continue to cancel.

Done when: The NOW Portal says your service has been cancelled.

  • To keep service until your prepaid period ends, select See details next to Plans, then Turn off autopay. Read the terms, check the box and select Confirm. A message says your NOW service is paused. Service stops when the period ends and you aren't billed again. For NOW Mobile, Turn off autopay is also on your NOW Mobile line page.
  • Cancelling NOW Internet or NOW Mobile after activation stops it immediately, with no refund for the rest of the period. Restarting then needs a new account and new equipment.
  • Cancelling NOW Internet also cancels NOW TV.
  • You don't return the NOW Internet Gateway. Xfinity suggests recycling it.
  • NOW Internet not activated yet? Select Cancel service before activation instead. You may get a refund. NOW Mobile not activated yet? Return the device within 14 days of purchase at an Xfinity Retail Store or by chatting with NOW support.

Cancel NOW TV on a Xumo Stream Box

NOW TV and NOW TV Latino can also be cancelled on a Xumo Stream Box.

  1. Go to the home screen on your Xumo Stream Box and select Settings at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select the My Subscriptions tile.
  3. On the Manage subscriptions page, select Unsubscribe.
  4. Select Unsubscribe again to confirm. When the box says the subscription ends right away, select Unsubscribe to continue.

Done when: A message says you've cancelled NOW TV or NOW TV Latino. Select Okay to finish.

  • Xfinity says a subscription cancelled on the box ends right away. It can take up to a day to show on the Manage subscriptions page.
  • You can keep the Xumo Stream Box.

Stop Xfinity Prepaid Internet Auto-Refill

Xfinity Prepaid Internet is managed at xfinityprepaid.com, not in the NOW Portal. Auto-Refill charges your card about a month after activation and keeps refilling until you turn it off.

  1. Sign in to your account at xfinityprepaid.com or in the Xfinity Prepaid app.
  2. Go to Edit Payment Method from the Account Information tab or the Helpful Links section.
  3. Turn off Auto-Refill.

Done when: Auto-Refill is off in your account. Without a refill, your service expires when the days you paid for run out.

Other people on your account

The account holder is the Primary user and decides who else can manage the account. Xfinity lets the Primary user give others permission to pay bills and add or cancel services. Users with the Member or Viewer role can't make account changes, so they can't cancel.

If the account holder has died, Xfinity's bereavement page lets you cancel the account or transfer it to a new owner.

Pause instead of cancelling

Going away for a while? The Seasonal Convenience plan puts services on hold at reduced rates for 2 to 6 months, once a year, then turns them back on with no installation fee. It's for existing residential customers and isn't offered everywhere. Xfinity Home and Mobile stay on at their usual rates, and you keep your equipment at home.

Active military members with orders, received after signing up, to deploy outside the U.S. or outside Xfinity's service area for 90 days or more can suspend Xfinity Mobile, NOW Mobile or Xfinity Voice for up to 39 months without service charges on the line. Device payments continue unless you pay the phone off. Xfinity Mobile Care premiums continue unless you remove that coverage, and then the line can't get it again. Call 1-888-936-4968 or bring your orders to an Xfinity Store.

NOW services pause when you turn off autopay in the NOW Portal. Service runs to the end of the prepaid period. Turn autopay back on within 180 days for NOW Internet or NOW TV, or within 60 days for NOW Mobile. After that the service is cancelled, and a NOW Mobile line loses its number.

Money-back guarantee

Xfinity doesn't advertise a free trial for home service. It offers a money-back guarantee instead: 30 days for Xfinity TV, Internet, Pro Protection and Voice, and 14 days for Xfinity Mobile. After a service change, the 30-day guarantee covers only the services that changed.

Xfinity Home has its own 30-day money-back guarantee. Cancel within 30 days of activation and Xfinity refunds the monthly fee for those 30 days and what you paid for standard installation. Your Xfinity Home agreement also lists a short right to cancel in writing, three business days in most states, and it varies by state.

For Xfinity Mobile, the 14 days run from the day your device ships or you buy it in a store. Return everything that came with the phone in like-new condition. Start a device return by chatting with Xfinity within those 14 days, and request the service refund online. Most device returns carry a $35 restocking fee, taken from your refund. A phone bought as a replacement on an existing line or as an early upgrade can only be exchanged, not returned.

Some Xfinity Internet deals include one Xfinity Mobile Select line free for 12 months. Regular rates apply after that, so decide before the year ends whether to keep the line.

What Xfinity shows you before you leave

Xfinity's cancel page lists the ways to cancel in its first paragraph, then suggests other options: moving your service, lowering your bill and pausing it. A Schedule a call button is further down, under Looking to cancel?

On the phone, you don't have to accept an offer. Say no and repeat that you want to cancel.

  • Save on your bill: To cancel instead, call 1-800-934-6489 or select Schedule a call.
  • Pause your service: To cancel instead, call 1-800-934-6489 or select Schedule a call.

What happens after you cancel

  • Access: Service stays on until the disconnect date Xfinity gives you. Xfinity's agreement lets it end service at the close of the billing cycle in which you cancelled, so ask for the exact date.
  • Equipment: Return rented equipment at an Xfinity Store or through the Digital Return Center, which still works after you disconnect. For UPS, pack only the device, remote and power cord, not HDMI, Ethernet or cable wires. WiFi extenders, cameras and mobile devices have their own return steps. Xfinity Home: return a leased touchscreen within 10 days of disconnecting. Otherwise the Xfinity Home agreement allows a $9.95 monthly fee until it's back and, if you end all services, a one-time charge of up to $250.
  • Final bill: It can include prorated charges and charges for equipment you haven't returned.
  • Phone numbers: Cancelling Voice or Mobile without transferring the number gives up the number.
  • Xfinity Mobile: Keeping Mobile after cancelling other Xfinity services can cost more. On the latest plan (joined or upgraded on or after April 22, 2026), cancelling Internet loses the $10 multi-product discount. Older plans add a $25 monthly standalone fee once you have no Xfinity Internet, Voice or TV, per account or per line depending on when you joined.
  • StreamSaver: StreamSaver requires Xfinity Internet or TV, and NOW StreamSaver requires NOW Internet or TV. Cancel those and you no longer qualify for the bundle. To drop only StreamSaver, sign in to the Xfinity StreamStore on xfinity.com, select Manage, then Remove bundle and Continue. You lose access to its streaming services right away. See how to cancel StreamSaver.
  • Netflix: Netflix that came with your Xfinity package doesn't end with it. After you cancel, Netflix charges a payment method you have on file with Netflix, or puts the account on hold if there isn't one. If you don't want to keep it, cancel at Netflix too. Netflix you bought on X1 stays on your Xfinity bill while you keep any Xfinity service. If you end every Xfinity service, add a payment method at Netflix to keep watching.
  • Your email: Your comcast.net address keeps working if you signed in on the Xfinity Email website in the 90 days before you disconnect. Sign in at least once every nine months to keep it.
  • Your data: When the agreement ends, Xfinity may delete data stored with the service, such as voicemail. Movies and shows you bought stay on Xfinity Stream with your Xfinity ID.
  • Rejoining: Check current offers online or contact Xfinity to restart service.

How to check it worked

  1. Keep the confirmation number and disconnect date.
  2. Keep the store receipt, or the top of the UPS label with the tracking number. Shipped returns can take up to two weeks to show at customer.xfinity.com/devices/returns.
  3. Check your final bill: no monthly service charges after the disconnect date and no unreturned equipment charges.
  4. If you kept Xfinity Mobile, check its next bill for the new price.
  5. For NOW services, check that the NOW Portal shows the service as cancelled or autopay as off. For Xfinity Prepaid Internet, check that Auto-Refill is off.

Getting a refund

  • Closed accounts: If you closed your account and returned the equipment, Xfinity sends any money you're owed to your last payment method. It usually takes about four to six weeks.
  • No payment method on file: Refunds over $500 come as a mailed check in five to eight weeks. Smaller refunds arrive as an email from notifications@refunds.xfinity.com that lets you pick a virtual card, a mailed card or a bank deposit. Prepaid refund cards expire after six months, then lose $3.50 a month.
  • Unreturned equipment fee: If you paid it and later return the equipment undamaged, Xfinity refunds the fee in full.
  • Money-back guarantee: New TV, Internet, Voice, Pro Protection and Xfinity Home service has a 30-day money-back guarantee. Xfinity Mobile service and devices have 14 days.
  • NOW services: No refund once you've activated. You may get one if you cancel before activation. NOW TV and streaming products aren't refunded.

Refund rules differ by country and by provider.

Questions people ask

Can I cancel Xfinity online?

Not Internet, TV, Voice or Home. Xfinity's cancel page lists three ways: call 1-800-934-6489, schedule a call or visit an Xfinity Store. Prepaid services are the exception: cancel NOW services in the NOW Portal, and turn off Xfinity Prepaid Internet Auto-Refill at xfinityprepaid.com. NOW TV can also be cancelled on a Xumo Stream Box, and a StreamSaver bundle can be removed online in the Xfinity StreamStore.

Is there an early termination fee?

Current Xfinity Internet plans have no annual contract, and Xfinity says you can cancel any time without penalty. If you signed a minimum term agreement, ending it early can cost an early termination fee. Your agreement has the details.

Do I have to return my equipment?

Yes, if you rent it. Charges can continue until it's back, and unreturned equipment shows up on your final bill. NOW Internet is different: you keep the gateway.

How do I keep my phone number?

Start the transfer with your new provider and keep the Xfinity line active until it finishes. Xfinity doesn't charge to transfer an Xfinity Voice number. For Xfinity Mobile, the finished transfer cancels that line.

What happens to Xfinity Mobile if I cancel my Internet?

Your lines keep working, but the price can go up. On the latest plan you lose the $10 multi-product discount. On older plans, a $25 monthly standalone fee applies once you have no Xfinity Internet, Voice or TV.

Can I keep my comcast.net email?

Yes, if you signed in on the Xfinity Email website in the 90 days before you disconnect. After that, sign in at least once every nine months.

I'm moving. Do I have to cancel?

Not if Xfinity serves your new address. Transfer your service at xfinity.com/moving. If it doesn't, cancel as above and return your equipment. NOW Internet doesn't transfer. Cancel it in the NOW Portal or at an Xfinity Retail Store once you're ready to move, because it stops right away, then sign up again at the new address.
