Quick answer

- Select your name, then Membership details.

- Select Confirm cancellation.
You keep member benefits such as discounts and included titles until your billing period ends, but use your credits before you cancel. Audible doesn't refund fees already paid. Titles you bought stay in your Library. If Apple or Google Play bills you, cancel with them instead.

Fee warning
Use your credits and make any title returns before you cancel. Unused credits from a membership Audible bills you for are lost, and returns aren't possible after you cancel. Credits from an App Store or Google Play membership don't expire. If Apple or Google Play bills you, Audible says to cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
First, find out who bills you
The device you listen on doesn't decide how you cancel. The company that charges you does.
Fastest check: Sign in at audible.com, select your name and open Membership details. It shows how you're billed.
| What you see | Who bills you | Go to |
|---|---|---|
| A charge from Audible, adbl.co/bill on your card | Audible | Cancel on the Audible website |
| A charge from APPLE.COM/BILL, with an Apple receipt for Audible | Apple | Billed by Apple |
| An Audible charge on a Google Play receipt | Google Play | Billed by Google Play |
| You're in a free trial and haven't been charged yet | Audible, Apple or Google Play | Free trial |
Cancel on the Audible website
This works in any browser on a computer, for memberships Audible bills you for.
- Sign in at audible.com.
- Select your name at the top of the page, then Membership details.
- Select Cancel membership.
- Select Confirm cancellation.
Done when: Audible emails you a cancellation confirmation and your Membership details page shows the change.
- Use your credits before you cancel. Unused credits are lost.
- No Cancel membership link? Check that you're signed in to the account that has the membership, and that Apple or Google Play doesn't bill you.
- Deleting the Audible app doesn't cancel your membership.
Cancel on iPhone, iPad or Android
If Audible bills you, cancel in your phone's browser. Audible's own cancel steps are for its website.
- Open Safari or Chrome and sign in at audible.com.
- Open the main menu and select your name.
- Select Membership details, then Cancel membership.
- Select Confirm cancellation.
Done when: Audible emails you a cancellation confirmation.
- Deleting the Audible app doesn't cancel anything.
- If Apple or Google Play bills you, use the steps below instead.
Billed by Apple
If Apple bills you for Audible, cancel with Apple. Audible's website can't cancel it. Your Membership details page on audible.com shows how you're billed.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open your Apple subscriptions.
- Tap Audible.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
Done when: Audible in your Apple subscriptions shows an end date instead of a renewal date.
- The same link works on a Mac, where it opens your subscriptions in the App Store.
- No Cancel Subscription button means it's already cancelled.
- Audible not in the list? Check the receipt email to see which Apple Account paid. If a family member's account paid, only they can cancel it.
- Audible says to cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date.
- Credits from an App Store membership don't expire and stay in your account after you cancel.
- To sign up again on Audible's website later, wait until the Apple cancellation is complete.
Billed by Google Play
If you joined in the Audible app on Android and Google Play bills you, cancel in Google Play.
- Open the Play Store and tap your profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap Audible.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
Done when: Google Play shows the date the subscription ends.
- On a computer, open play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions and sign in with the Google account that paid.
- Audible says to cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date.
- Credits from a Google Play membership don't expire and stay in your account after you cancel.
- Uninstalling the Audible app doesn't cancel the subscription.
Cancel by phone or chat
Audible's terms let you cancel by calling or chatting with customer service.
- Call Audible at 1-888-283-5051. Audible says customer service is open 24/7.
- Or sign in at audible.com/contactus and select the option that best matches your issue.
- Say: "I want to cancel my Audible membership. Please send me a cancellation confirmation."
- Write down the date, the agent's name and any confirmation they give you.
Done when: Audible emails you a cancellation confirmation and your Membership details page shows the change.
- Have your account email ready. Audible uses it to check who you are.
- If Apple or Google Play bills you, cancel with them instead.
Pause instead of cancelling
Monthly plans can pause for 30, 60 or 90 days, up to 90 days in total every 12 months. You need at least 30 days of paid membership first, and annual plans can't be paused.
Your payments pause too. You keep your existing credits and the titles you bought, but you get no new credits, and included titles are locked until you resume.
To pause, sign in at audible.com, select your name, then Membership details, and select Pause membership. In the Audible app, start from your Profile. When the pause ends, the membership renews on its own. To come back early, select Resume membership.
If Apple bills you, pause in the Audible app on your iPhone or iPad: tap the Profile tab, go to Membership, tap Manage, then Pause Membership. The pause always lasts 30 days, and you can't resume early.
If Google Play bills you, pause in the Audible app on Android: tap the Profile icon, then Manage membership, then Pause membership, then Continue to pause. You can pause for 1, 2 or 3 months, up to 90 days every 12 months. For Standard members, the pause starts on the next billing date. To come back early, tap the Profile icon, then Resume now.
Free trial
Eligible new members get 30 days free on Audible Premium or Audible Standard. When the trial ends, it turns into a paid membership at the regular price.
To avoid the first charge, cancel before the trial ends, the same way as a paid membership. If Apple or Google Play bills you, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
A title you get with your trial credit is yours to keep. A Standard monthly selection locks when the membership ends.
Premium trial members can pause for 30 days only, which moves the end of the trial back by the same 30 days. This isn't available for trials billed by Apple or Google Play.
What Audible shows you before you leave
Audible's help pages don't describe what its cancel pages show. Its help center suggests three things before you cancel: use your credits, pause instead, or switch to the cheaper Standard plan and keep your credits.
On Audible Plus? Audible closed Plus to new members in March 2026. If you cancel it, you can't get that plan back.
If you still want to leave, keep going. Your membership isn't cancelled until you select Confirm cancellation.
What happens after you cancel
- Access: Member benefits such as discounts and included titles last until the end of your final billing period. After that, Plus Catalog titles and Standard monthly selections lock.
- Your data: Titles you bought with credits or a card stay in your Library as long as they're available on Audible, and you can download them again anytime. Your account stays open, and you can still buy audiobooks at full price.
- Rejoining: Sign in at audible.com, select Plans & Pricing and choose a plan. Joining Audible Premium opens locked included titles again, as long as they're still in the included catalog. Audible Plus is closed to new members, so if you cancel Plus you can't get that plan back. If Apple billed you, wait until that cancellation is complete first.
How to check it worked
- Look for the cancellation confirmation email from Audible.
- Open Membership details on audible.com and check that it shows the change.
- If Apple or Google Play billed you, check that the store shows an end date for Audible.
- Check that your next card statement shows no new membership charge from Audible, adbl.co/bill.
Getting a refund
- Billed by Audible: Audible's terms say fees you already paid aren't refunded when you cancel.
- Returning a title: Active Premium members can return a title they bought with a credit within 365 days and get the credit back, not money. You can't make returns after you cancel, so make them first.
- A charge you don't recognize: Check your Purchase History on audible.com to see what it was for. If it still doesn't match, contact Audible at audible.com/contactus.
- Billed by Apple: Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides, not Audible.
- Billed by Google Play: Within 48 hours of a purchase, you may be able to request a refund on Google Play. After that, Google says to contact the developer, Audible.
If you were billed through the App Store, Apple decides eligibility case by case. Refund rules differ by country and by provider.
Questions people ask
Can I cancel Audible in the app?
Use a browser. Audible's help center gives cancel steps for its website only, on a computer or in your phone's browser. If Apple or Google Play bills you, cancel with them. Deleting the app doesn't cancel.
Do I keep my audiobooks?
Yes, for titles you bought with credits or a card. They stay in your Library. Plus Catalog titles and Standard monthly selections lock when the membership ends.
What happens to my unused credits?
If Audible bills you, they're lost, so use them before you cancel. Credits from an App Store or Google Play membership don't expire.
Will I get money back for the rest of the month?
No. Audible's terms say fees already paid aren't refunded. You keep member benefits such as discounts and included titles until the billing period ends.
Can I cancel during the free trial?
Yes. Cancel before the trial ends and you won't move to a paid membership. A title you got with your trial credit stays yours.
I get one audiobook a month with Amazon Music Unlimited. Is that an Audible membership?
No. It comes with Amazon Music Unlimited. If you cancel or pause that subscription, the audiobook goes away when your current billing period ends.
My Audible membership was a gift. Do I need to cancel it?
Not the gift itself: a gift membership doesn't renew and ends on its own. If you already had your own membership when you redeemed it, Audible adds the gift credits all at once and your own membership keeps renewing until you cancel it. Gift credits expire 12 months after they're issued.
