Quick answer
- Go to customercenter.wsj.com/subscriptions and sign in.
- Select your subscription, then Cancel Subscription.
- Skip any offers to stay and confirm the cancellation.
- On a 6-month or annual plan bought on or after July 9, 2026, only a call to 1-800-JOURNAL (1-800-568-7625) can get a prorated refund, and not in the last 30 days.
Monthly and quarterly plans keep access until the billing period ends, with no refund. If you subscribed in the WSJ app and Apple, Google Play or Amazon charges you, cancel with them. For gift, workplace or school access, ask whoever pays or WSJ Customer Service.

Fee warning
On a 6-month or annual plan, how and when you cancel decides your refund. Bought on or after July 9, 2026: only a cancellation through the call center can get a prorated refund, and cancelling online gets none. Bought before then: cancelling before the last 30 days of the term ends your access right away, with a prorated refund.
First, find out who bills you
The device you read on doesn't decide how you cancel. The company that charges you does.
Fastest check: Sign in to the Customer Center, select your subscription and scroll to the Payment section to see how you pay. For a gift, access from your organization or a subscription bought from another vendor, the Customer Center says so. If your WSJ charge came on an Apple, Google Play or Amazon Appstore receipt, cancel there instead. Paying with PayPal or Amazon Pay on wsj.com still means WSJ bills you.
| What you see | Who bills you | Go to |
|---|---|---|
| A WSJ or Dow Jones charge on your credit or debit card | The Wall Street Journal | Cancel in the WSJ Customer Center |
| You paid with Apple Pay on the WSJ website | The Wall Street Journal | Cancel in the WSJ Customer Center |
| A charge from APPLE.COM/BILL, with an Apple receipt for The Wall Street Journal | Apple | Billed by Apple |
| You read WSJ only in Apple News, with Apple News+ | Apple | Billed by Apple |
| A WSJ charge on a Google Play receipt | Google Play | Billed by Google Play |
| You paid with PayPal or Amazon Pay on the WSJ website | The Wall Street Journal | Cancel in the WSJ Customer Center |
| A WSJ charge on an Amazon Appstore receipt, or WSJ listed in Your Subscriptions on Amazon | Amazon | Billed by Amazon |
| Your Customer Center says the subscription is a gift or comes from your organization | The giver, your employer or your school | Gift, workplace, school and bundle subscriptions |
| You bought WSJ from another company or as part of its deal | That company | Gift, workplace, school and bundle subscriptions |
Cancel in the WSJ Customer Center
This works in any browser, on a computer or a phone, for subscriptions WSJ bills you for, print or digital.
- Open customercenter.wsj.com/subscriptions and sign in with the email address or username you use for WSJ.
- On the Manage/Cancel Subscription(s) page, select your subscription. If asked, enter your password again.
- Select Cancel Subscription.
- Answer the questions about why you're leaving if you're asked, and skip any offers to stay.
- If the page asks how you want to cancel, choose one. Cancel at End of Renewal Term keeps your access until the date shown. Cancel Immediately ends your access now.
- Select Confirm Cancellation.
Done when: The Customer Center says your subscription is cancelled and shows the date it expires.
- On a 6-month or annual plan bought on or after July 9, 2026, cancelling online gets no refund. If you want a prorated refund, cancel by phone instead.
- If the page offers Disable Automatic Renewal, that stops the next renewal and keeps your access until the expiry date it shows.
- Print subscription not on your login? Link it first: on the Customer Center home page, choose to activate your digital access and look up your print account by your last name. Or call Customer Service.
- If the page tells you to contact Customer Service instead, cancel by phone.
- Print subscribers: WSJ says up to two more newspapers may arrive after you cancel or stop delivery.
- Deleting the WSJ app, or your WSJ account, doesn't cancel the subscription.
Cancel by phone
WSJ Customer Service can cancel any subscription WSJ bills you for. For newer 6-month and annual plans, it's the only way to get a prorated refund.
- Call 1-800-JOURNAL (1-800-568-7625), Monday to Friday, 7 am to 10 pm, or Saturday, 7 am to 8 pm Eastern Time.
- Say: "I want to cancel my Wall Street Journal subscription. Please give me a confirmation number." On a 6-month or annual plan, also ask for the prorated refund.
- Write down the date, the agent's name and the confirmation number.
Done when: The agent confirms the cancellation and tells you the date your subscription ends.
- The toll number is 1-609-212-4029. Outside the US and Canada, customercenter.wsj.com/contact lists numbers by country.
- If you're in the last 30 days of a 6-month or annual term, there's no refund either way. Your access runs to the end of the term.
- If the agent offers you a deal, you can say no and ask them to finish the cancellation.

Billed by Apple
If you subscribed in the WSJ app on an iPhone or iPad and Apple charged you, cancel with Apple.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open your Apple subscriptions.
- Tap The Wall Street Journal.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
Done when: The Wall Street Journal in your Apple subscriptions shows an end date instead of a renewal date.
- The same link works on a Mac, where it opens your subscriptions in the App Store.
- No Cancel Subscription button means it's already cancelled.
- Apple charges the renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends, so cancel at least a day before.
- Reading WSJ through Apple News+? That's Apple's own subscription, not a WSJ one. Cancel Apple News+ in the same list. If it comes with Apple One, change or cancel Apple One there instead.
Billed by Google Play
If you subscribed in the WSJ app on Android and Google Play charged you, cancel there.
- Open the Play Store and tap your profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap The Wall Street Journal.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
Done when: Google Play shows the date the subscription ends.
- On a computer, open play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions and sign in with the Google account that paid.
- WSJ says you keep access until the end of the current billing period.
- Uninstalling the WSJ app doesn't cancel the subscription.
Billed by Amazon
If you subscribed in the WSJ app from the Amazon Appstore, for example on a Fire tablet, Amazon bills you. Cancel with Amazon.
- Go to Your Account on amazon.com and sign in with the Amazon account that pays.
- Select Your Apps under Digital content and devices.
- Select Your Subscriptions under Manage, then turn off auto-renewal for The Wall Street Journal.
Done when: Your Subscriptions shows auto-renewal turned off for The Wall Street Journal.
- On a Fire tablet, you can also tap Apps, then Store, open the menu and tap Manage Subscriptions.
- Amazon says that after you turn off auto-renewal, access continues until your current subscription period ends.
Gift, workplace, school and bundle subscriptions
A gift subscription is bought by the giver, and your Customer Center shows that it's a gift. Ask WSJ Customer Service what happens when it ends.
If your employer or school gives you access, they pay for it, so ask them or WSJ Customer Service about ending it. WSJ's terms say its own billing and cancellation terms may not apply to you.
If you bought WSJ from a retailer or another company, cancel with that company. WSJ's refund policy points you to the terms you got when you bought it.
If your subscription is a bundle that also includes Barron's or MarketWatch, WSJ's terms say you can cancel the whole bundle or one service in it. Use the Customer Center or call Customer Service.
Pause instead of cancelling
Print subscribers can put newspaper delivery on hold. In the Customer Center, select Suspend Subscription, choose the subscription, enter the dates to stop and resume delivery, and select Schedule. WSJ needs at least two publishing days' notice and can limit how many holds you take and how long they last.
WSJ's help center says a hold normally pushes your renewal date back by the days you suspend. If you donate those days to WSJ's School Donation Program, they're deducted from your account instead.
The Customer Center's cancel flow may offer to pause your subscription for up to 3 months instead. The pause starts when your current paid term ends, and billing resumes automatically after the time you choose. WSJ says that if you cancel while it's paused, you won't be charged.
Free trials and introductory prices
WSJ offers and their terms vary, so check the ones you signed up under. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel before it renews, so cancel before the first full-price charge if you don't want to keep it.
On a monthly plan, cancelling stops all future charges and you keep access until the current billing period ends.
If you started in the WSJ app, Apple, Google Play or Amazon may bill you, and you cancel with them. On iPhone, cancel at least a day before the trial or intro period ends.
What WSJ shows you before you leave
When you cancel online, the Customer Center may ask why you're leaving and offer a discounted plan, free extra time or a pause of up to 3 months. A new plan starts at the end of the current term, and free extra time is followed by the regular price.
To leave, skip the offers and keep going until the page says your subscription is cancelled.
- A discounted plan or free extra time to stay subscribed: Select Proceed with Cancellation.
- Pause your subscription for up to 3 months: Select Continue cancelling my subscription.
What happens after you cancel
- Access: Monthly and quarterly plans keep access until the billing period ends. On 6-month and annual plans it depends on when you bought: see Getting a refund. If you cancel by phone for a prorated refund, ask the agent when your access ends.
- Your account: Your login becomes a free registered account with limited access to WSJ.com. Subscriber-only articles need a subscription again.
- Your data: Cancelling doesn't delete your account or data. Cancel first, then use Delete Account Request in the Customer Center. WSJ says deletion can take up to 4 weeks. Depending on your state, the Dow Jones Privacy Notice may give you more rights over your data.
- Rejoining: Sign in to the Customer Center. If your subscription has expired, select Renew Subscription under Payments, or subscribe again at wsj.com/subscribe.
How to check it worked
- In the Customer Center, open Manage/Cancel Subscription(s), select your subscription and check that it shows the date it expires.
- If you cancelled by phone, keep the confirmation number with the date of the call.
- After your next billing date, check Billing History in the Customer Center and your card statement for a new WSJ charge.
- If Apple, Google Play or Amazon billed you, check there that the subscription won't renew.
Getting a refund
- Monthly and quarterly plans: No refund. You keep access until the billing period ends.
- 6-month and annual plans bought on or after July 9, 2026: Cancel through the call center for a refund prorated to your cancellation date. Cancelling online gets no refund, and neither does cancelling in the last 30 days of the term.
- 6-month and annual plans bought before July 9, 2026: Cancelling before the last 30 days of the term ends your access and gets you a prorated refund. In the last 30 days there's no refund, and access runs to the end of the term.
- Other cases: WSJ says it may give refunds or credits at its own discretion. Ask Customer Service at 1-800-JOURNAL (1-800-568-7625).
- Bought from another company: Follow the terms you got from the company that sold it to you.
- Billed by Apple: Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides, not The Wall Street Journal.
- Billed by Google Play: Within 48 hours of a purchase, you may be able to request a refund on Google Play. After that, Google says to contact the developer, The Wall Street Journal.
If you were billed through the App Store, Apple decides eligibility case by case. Refund rules differ by country and by provider.
Questions people ask
Can I cancel The Wall Street Journal online?
Yes. Sign in at customercenter.wsj.com/subscriptions, select your subscription and choose Cancel Subscription. On a 6-month or annual plan bought on or after July 9, 2026, only a call can get a prorated refund.
Will I get money back for the rest of my plan?
Not on a monthly or quarterly plan. On a 6-month or annual plan it depends on when you bought it and how you cancel. Plans bought on or after July 9, 2026 get a prorated refund only by phone.
What's the WSJ customer service number?
1-800-JOURNAL (1-800-568-7625), Monday to Friday, 7 am to 10 pm, and Saturday, 7 am to 8 pm Eastern Time. The toll number is 1-609-212-4029.
I subscribed in the WSJ app. Where do I cancel?
Check your receipt. If Apple, Google Play or Amazon charged you, cancel with them. If you bought on wsj.com and only sign in to the app, cancel in the Customer Center.
Does deleting my WSJ account cancel my subscription?
No. Cancel the subscription first. The Customer Center says deleting your account doesn't end a subscription.
I read WSJ in Apple News. How do I stop paying?
If Apple News+ gives you WSJ, Apple bills you: cancel Apple News+ in your Apple subscriptions. If it's part of Apple One, change or cancel Apple One instead. If you signed in to Apple News with your own WSJ account, WSJ bills you: cancel in the Customer Center.
How do I cancel a print subscription?
The same way as digital: in the Customer Center or by phone. If the print subscription isn't on your login, link it from the Customer Center home page by looking up your print account, or call 1-800-JOURNAL.
